The Your Lung Operation Home Skills Kit supports patients with education and materials to learn and practice the skills needed for optimal postoperative recovery.
Your Lung Operation provides patients needing a lung resection with the knowledge and training to support their full participation and optimal recovery. The 30-minute video includes an overview of the lungs’ anatomy and function and procedure options, preoperative preparation, cancer staging, potential risks, postoperative hospital discharge, and home care. All The Joint Commission safety guidelines are incorporated into the kit, such as site marking, ID band checks, and pneumonia and DVT prevention strategies. This program is an excellent teaching video for both patients and professional staff.
The American College of Surgeons grants single hospital
networks access to broadcast the licensed video program. This standard license
will also include two Your Lung Operation Home Skills Programs. Each program
packet includes: DVD, booklet, individual information sheets that include lung
images for surgeon review and drawing, medication lists, exercise and pulmonary
rehab activity guides, and smoking cessation resources. View the Your
